As an oncology social worker at the Cancer Services Program at MVHS, I witness the devastating effects of cancer on patients’ physical and emotional health, relationships, careers, and finances everyday. Although working in the oncology field can be challenging, it is a great privilege to witness the capacity and resilience of the human spirit as patients face one of the most significant experiences of their lives. It is also an honor to work with dedicated and passionate professionals and organizations committed to supporting patients as they battle this disease. The Joseph Michel Chubbuck Foundation is a prime example of an organization that is dedicated to supporting oncology patients. I am fortunate to see the direct impact of this assistance on patients’ daily lives such as providing for transportation costs so patients are able to receive care they would otherwise be unable to access, assisting with security deposits and rent costs to help patients maintain safe housing and avoid eviction, and providing assistance with grocery costs to allow patients to purchase healthy foods to support their recovery. The assistance from the JMCF is always provided quickly, compassionately, and is greatly appreciated by our patients in ways in which I cannot even begin to describe. Unfortunately, so few resources such as the Joseph Michael Chubbuck Foundation exist to provide assistance with expenses not covered by insurance, and the foundation is often one of the only options available for getting patients’ needs met. Please consider donating to the JMCF through the Boilermaker Charity Bib Program so that the foundation can continue to provide this assistance to oncology patients in our community. It is truly an honor to run for the foundation that does so much for our patients, allowing me to give back in a small way.

All runner donations are Tax exempt but are non-refundable.
